prom dress

You want to have a good time at your prom and your parents want you to as well. But your idea of the right dress for the occasion may not match theirs. If you find a happy medium, there are some prom dresses your parents just might approve of.

Your mom and dad are not completely oblivious to the life of a teenager; they were young once too. And although times are very different now, some things never change.

Believe me, your mom wanted to look like a babe back in her day so she understands your possible desire to. And your dad definitely wanted to date the hottest “it girl” in school so he will understand that you want to be that “it girl.”

Your parents don’t seriously want you to look like a schoolgirl. But they also don’t want you to look like a dancer. If you can find something that bridges the gap between the two, you’ll all be happy.

Happy Medium Alternatives

Instead of wearing a mini that barely covers your bum, what about a long gown with a high split? This will give you that hot look without leaving your parents sitting up waiting for you to come home.

You might want to wear something so low cut, you can see your neck, the center of your chest, your belly button, and three inches of skin below it. But your mother and father will probably park the family station wagon outside of your high school gymnasium entrance if attempt to wear something that risque.

Instead, find something that is strapless and cut low, but tight around the chest. And don’t forget to use dress tape to hold it in place so it doesn’t slip down. This will show off your chest without showing an excess of cleavage.

Another idea is to have the front covered but the back out. Having your back out is provocative but not dangerously so. Halter prom dresses have your entire front covered. They wrap around the neck and leave your back out.

Your mom may actually beam with pride when she sees you in something like this. Your father might be a little nervous, but he’ll be proud too. All in all, they’ll agree that you look beautiful and age appropriate.
